Does anyone know where to get Yorkie puppies?
Hi! I REALLY want a Yorkie puppy to raise, but a lot of them are like 3,000 dollars! That is too much for me! I try Craigslist everyday and Petfinder, and Adopt-a-pet, but none of them have what I am looking for.. Please serious answers only, Thanks so much for the help!!!
Actually, Dartass2, I do have the money to take care of the dog, I just think that spending 1,000+ dollars on a dog is ridiculous!
Your best bet is going to be to continue to check with with shelters and rescue organizations if you are set on only paying a minimal amount for a dog. Or you could try checking with some breeders in your area to see if they are planning to retire any of their breeding stock. many times they will place them for less than what they would charge for a younger pup.
Breeding ethically is not a cheap venture, therefore the price for pups is not always cheap. Breeders have costs invested in their programs that they have to cover where they can.

Check your local shelters Or even a breed specific rescue

Try your local shelter, if they don't have one they might could give you the information to a yorkie rescue

A pup from a reputable breeder will be worth the money and probably around 1,000 dollars. If you cannot afford to buy the dog then you cannot afford to keep him/her for the next 10 or more years!!!!!!
Look at the breed club website for reputable breeders. If you cannot find a local yorkie or small breed rescue group then you arn't looking hard enough AT ALL.
References :
check with your local vets and kennel clubs. BEWARE of getting a puppy on line - always visit the breeder and kennel first to check out the conditions.
Yorkies are very expensive and bear in mind, the tinier the dog, the more prone they are to medical issues. Yorkies require DAILY combing and hair conditioning- they matt continually.
Unless you can obtain one through a shelter or rescue expect to pay at least $1,000 for a well bred yorkie.
and irregardless of what breed you get, make sure you have at least $500 tucked away for medical emergencies should they arrise because now days that's about what it costs should your dog end up in an emergency clinic.
good luck - don't give up - please consider a mixed breed - you'll have alot fewer medical and emotional issues!
