If our yorkie got pregnant by our Australian Shepherd lab….what would the pups look like? Would it be risky for the yorkie?
no!! we do not want her to actually have puppies. We were just wondering if it was at all possible.
The size of the puppies depends on the size of the mother and the number of pups. Genetics determine how large they will grow to. Anything is possible but, large males tend to collapse much smaller females (cannot support his weight) preventing penetration. By all means, separate them if she is in standing heat.

You bet. I won’t say it isn’t impossible. Shame on you for even considering.

the labs’ genetics could cause larger puppies.. the pups could look like anything.
Yes it would be very risky.. the pregnancy itself could kill the yorkie.. if not, whelping most likely will.

It would probably kill the Yorkie but then again you are just wondering right?

Your yorkie wouldn’t be able to whelp the big pups and unless you are more cluey than you sound, the pups will die and so will the yorkie. She will die in painful agony.

I’m not too sure what the puppies would look like but it would definitely be hard for the mother dog. She might end up needing a c-section to deliver the pups safely.

Depending on the quality of both dogs and the size difference. I would say that there is a pretty high chance of the yorkie dying during pregnancy. Especially if the yorkie was a poorly bred “teacup” in which case I’d say most definitely the pregnancy would kill her.
And as has been mentioned, even if the pregnancy didn’t, the whelping would.
The pups assuming they were able to be born, could have a number of outcomes since they would be mutts, they are relatively unpredictable.
The coat could come out curly with an aussies markings, rough with a yorkies markings, or completely have a yorkie or aussie coat. The size too would be hard to determine, though I would assume the dogs would be horribly disproportionate.
All in all, not a good idea to breed these two breeds. Or any 2 breeds for that matter.
I am glad you are just asking out of curiosity, I hope your two dogs are spayed/neutered.

it would kill her no doubt
