Our Yorkie Puppies Are Now 16 Days Old, and Their Eyes Still Aren't Open?

We have been told that their eyes should be open between 10-17 days old, but their eyes haven't even started to open at all. Should we call our vet, or just give it more time?

Puppies usually have their eyes open, or partially open, by 2 weeks old. They may just be late bloomers, but to be on the safe side, I would give my vet a call and see what he recommends the next move to be. He may just tell you not to worry, and to give it a couple more days, but I always say it would not hurt to ask and it's better to be safe than sorry.

I 'd call your vet and bring the pups in to be checked. It is true that most pups do open their eyes in 10 to 14 days but the smaller breeds do take a bit longer.
Still I'd take them all in to have your vet do a look and see just to make sure everything is ok.

Yeah I have to agree with GoldenGal.. 10-14 days is norm.. The eyes stay closed because they are still developing.. If they are slow in opening, they are slow in developing.. you feeding mom good quality dog food? Keeping her in good healthy strong condition??
You should see the eyes beginning to crack at very least.. Call the vet and ask him..
