What Is the Best Shampoo and Conditioner for Maltese and Yorkie Puppies?

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

Mrs. B and GSD, DP, ACD, AK….I am not trying to be rude but I dont see how your answers help me. Please just answer the question posted. If you dont know the answer, leave it alone.

i like bio groom or earth bath, oatmeal shampoos are a lot more gentle on their skin. there are specific puppy shampoos but stay away from cheap stuff like hartz. water down the shampoo as you only need it to sudds up in order for it to clean. it makes it a whole lot easier to massage into the coat and rinsing it out is easier as well. after your done bathing be sure to rinse your pup off really well with fresh water and any soap residue can irritate their skin and make them very itchy

Yorkie Puppies??

Friday, October 16th, 2009

Regarding other Q on Yorkies. New 4 day old puppies were in the bathtub and friend was supposed to watch them over weekend and now 1 puppy is nowhere to be found. Would mother yorkie has eaten it if it were sick or did "friend" take it?

Probably something happened to the puppy (because of carelessness?) and your "friend" is afraid to admit it.

I Need Help Finding a Teacup Yorkie Puppies for Sale That Is Under $250?

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

I would like to get a puppies that is not from a breeder but if so its fine.

Just so you know, there’s actually no such thing as a "Teacup" Yorkie. Yorkies are already very small, and the teacup thing is just a term scammers use to sell the runts and the underfed puppies for more than a regular puppy. Avoid anyone advertising teacup yorkies like the plague.

And the breeders aren’t the problem. Puppy mills are obviously horrible, but real breeders produce high-quality, healthy dogs. The hard part is just figuring out which "breeders" are real. When looking for your puppy, avoid buying online. Also avoid any breeder than offers more than two kinds of dogs. Find someone local and then go to their home. Ask to see the parents and the place where the puppies are housed. Real breeders will be able to provide both and will have the dogs in a clean environment.

I don’t think you can get a purebred for that little, however. They usually sell for anywhere from $500-$1500.

If you’re willing to accept a mix, though, you can find plenty of small puppies through rescue groups or shelters. You can get a Yorkie puppy for less than fifty dollars in most cases, and very few of those puppies are put up for adoption if they have outstanding health issues.

What Websites Can I Post an Ad for My Yorkie Puppies?

Sunday, June 14th, 2009

We are ready to place our puppies in homes, they are fullbreed Yorkshire Terriers, AKC registered, legitimate breeders etc. What are some sites we can list an ad on? We will be asking an appropriate price for a fullbreed dog.
Craigslist is not an option as the section on there is strictly for rehoming.

I know they sell puppies on puppyfind.com and kijiji.com also try american classifieds. com

Does Anyone Know Where to Get Yorkie Puppies?

Saturday, May 23rd, 2009

Hi! I REALLY want a Yorkie puppy to raise, but a lot of them are like 3,000 dollars! That is too much for me! I try Craigslist everyday and Petfinder, and Adopt-a-pet, but none of them have what I am looking for.. Please serious answers only, Thanks so much for the help!!!
Actually, Dartass2, I do have the money to take care of the dog, I just think that spending 1,000+ dollars on a dog is ridiculous!

Your best bet is going to be to continue to check with with shelters and rescue organizations if you are set on only paying a minimal amount for a dog. Or you could try checking with some breeders in your area to see if they are planning to retire any of their breeding stock. many times they will place them for less than what they would charge for a younger pup.
Breeding ethically is not a cheap venture, therefore the price for pups is not always cheap. Breeders have costs invested in their programs that they have to cover where they can.

I Really Want to Start Breeding Yorkie Teacup Puppies. Is There Training for That?

Thursday, February 5th, 2009

I already have a girl and a boy, but i'd like to know about docking the tails, the actual birthing and getting them (the pups) AKC registered. Both my dogs are AKC. I want to be a really good breeder. What to do?

Join your local yorkshire terrier breed association through the AKC. Go to the events and meet various breeders to find one who will mentor you. Each breed is prone to different health problems so make sure to find a breeder who does the proper genetic testing on their dogs before breeding. And don't go through the birthing process by yourself as a first-time breeder! Yorkies are prone to delivery problems and an experienced breeder will be able to distinguish between normal labor and an animal that needs medical attention immediately.

Also, serious breeders breed to improve the breed overall. In addition to health tests, the parent dogs should be shown against other dogs in AKC events and become champions before breeding. This helps prove that the dogs used for breeding are the "cream of the crop". The above posters are right about there not being a "teacup" variety of Yorkshire Terrier, you should breed to the breed standard (7 lbs.) because severely undersized dogs are unhealthy.

Overall, breeding is a huge responsibility. Breeders who do it right are lucky to break even money-wise. It's about the love of the breed, not making a profit. Good breeders are responsible for their puppies for life. They will take a dog back and provide a loving home for it at any time during the animal's life if the buyer becomes unable/unwilling to care for it. Please don't breed unless you can make this kind of commitment.

Do Yorkie Puppies Hair Thin Out ?

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

We have a almost 5 month old yorkie puppy, and his hair is turning gray and looks like its thinning out a little bit. I know that most yorkies hair turn gray but is it normal for it to look like its thinning out?

A puppy's coat will change and some are not in full coat until two years of age but that is usually for med-large dogs. Your little Yorkie will lose some of it's baby coat and go through a thinning process before it gets its "adult" coat.

This is assuming that your puppy is in good health and has been checked by a veterinarian.
