Maltese and Yorkshire Terrier Puppies

Friday, December 5th, 2008

We are native Texans, living just outside the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex. I have been showing animals all of my life. My husband, Tim, graduated from Tarleton State University and I graduated from Hill College. We have 2 teenage children that are our pride and joy. The kennel name, Ben-Er, is a combination of their names, Ben and Erin. I owe my success to many many breeders that went before me and molded the look of the dog that we breed today, that short, square body with large expressive eyes, a baby doll face, and sweet nature. My first champions and breeding stock came from Gumwood, Marcris and Hi Lite, we also have little darlings with Wildweir, Chelsea Nimar, Mayfair, Kajimanor, Caromaya, Master Showcase, Keolis, Fantasyland, and Cedarwood Championship breeding.

Many people have a misunderstanding of what it means to have a dog with “papers”. They do not really know what AKC (American Kennel Club) papers are or their importance. The AKC is a registry body that issues registration certificates that we call the “AKC Papers”. Some confusion has occurred over full or limited registration. Full registration means that the dog may be shown and bred. Limited registration simply means that puppies from that dog cannot be registered. The papers are limited to that dog, but the dog is still an AKC registered dog. AKC now includes DNA testing. We are AKC inspected and DNA tested. We believe that the best way to purchase a dog is directly from a show breeder, this ensures that you obtain a dog that is both sound in mind, body, and spirit. The pet purchase is no less important than the show purchase, both will be a part of your family for many years to come. We want to ensure that you receive the best quality dog.

The noted English geneticist, Dr. E. Fitch Daglish, says: “In breeding we can only get in a litter the qualities which are put into it through the parents, so that it is unreasonable to expect to produce top-class puppies unless care is taken when arranging a mating that all the qualities we wish to obtain are represented genetically in one or other of the parents; the ideal being that both the sire and dam shall possess as many of the characteristics desired as possible.”

Where Can I Post an Ad to Sell Yorkie Puppies?

Saturday, November 29th, 2008

I have 2 male yorkshire terrier puppies. They are 7 weeks old and AKC registered. I want to sell them for $600 each. I tried putting them on craigslist but it gets removed. Does anyone know a site that could help me advertise my pups?

I agree, you should've had this set up before you dog had puppies. Go to your vet and get her spayed. While you are there, ask if they know of anyone looking for Yorkies. When I worked at a vet office, we kept a list of people looking to get dogs. That way when people came in wanting to euthanize their healthy 2 year old dog because it became a "hassle", we would be able to help place the dog in a new home, and give the dog a second chance at life.

How Could a Yorkie Actually Have Large Puppies?

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

If our yorkie got pregnant by our Australian Shepherd lab….what would the pups look like? Would it be risky for the yorkie?

no!! we do not want her to actually have puppies. We were just wondering if it was at all possible.

The size of the puppies depends on the size of the mother and the number of pups. Genetics determine how large they will grow to. Anything is possible but, large males tend to collapse much smaller females (cannot support his weight) preventing penetration. By all means, separate them if she is in standing heat.

How Do I Potty Train Yorkie Puppies? I Have Had My Yorkie Puppy for 3 Weeks and the Training Is Not Working.?

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

I have watched her and made sure she goes when she wakes up, after she naps, after she plays, after she eats, and right before she goes to bed at night. I also give her lots of praise and an occasional treat at times. A few times I have put her in my office with a gate while I am doing things around the house. I leave her in there with a pad to go on and toys and her crate to sleep in. She will pee everywhere else put not on the pad like I have been training her to do. Sometimes she doesnt even sniff around for her scent, she will just go wherever she is at that moment. She also was laying on my couch one day and went while she was laying down. I don't know what else to do. I may have too high expectations. How long do these puppies usually take to break.

i have no idea, why u get a yorkie in the 1rst place, they are just beauty, well when they get wet they change of breed, tadha we have now a chihuahua..
i told u not to get a yorkie…

Is It Normal for 2 Week Thoroughbred Yorkie Puppies to Have White on Toes and Check?

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

Well thoroughbred is a breed of horse and is not used in dogs. We use purebred to indicate a pedigreed dog. White on the toes is fault in many breeds. In some breeds it's a disqualification. Sometimes in puppies this young the white will grow out and not be a problem. Sometimes not. It all depends on the parents and the animals behind the parents. Now white on the cheek is a mismark and most likely the puppy will not grow out of it. I believe that it might be a disqualification in the breed. Read the standands below for more education. Personally I wouldn't breed dogs with most disqualifying faults whether I showed them or not. There is usually a reason why those faults are disqualifying in the standard and most of them have to do with the health and overall quality of the breed.

Yorkie Puppies and Food.?

Monday, November 3rd, 2008

I have 2 yorkie puppies and I am wondering when I should start offering them food and water. Also, should I start with hard or soft food?

When we breed our boston terrier we start to offer water around 4 weeks of age. If they don't take it start by adding a little puppy formula to the water and slowly fade it out. We offer food around 6 weeks. As for food use hard food. The best way to do this is to put it in a food chopper with some water added and chop it up. This makes it softer and easier for them to chew. We don't use can food b/c it gives them diarrhea and is harder for them to digest. Also don't give them too much b/c puppies don't know when to stop or when they are full.
