I have a 4 month old yorkie puppy who has been treated with revolution and has no fleas. We wash her with oatmeal/honey shampoo yet she is scratching uncontrollably. No flaking skin, No type of visible skin irritation.

Could be a food allergy.

One flea(Even if you cant see it) Can cause puppies that are not used to fleas, very bad itching!
Maybe it’s her diet, is she vomiting, having dihreah, head shaking, ear infections? Those are all signs of dog food alergys. Try talking with your vet about this one. They should be able to help!

could be food allergy, dry skin that you might not be able to see, or an ant bite or some sort like that. my chihuahua pup does the same thing with NO fleas

Either she’s scratching because that’s what all dogs do….or your showering her WAY TOO Much. Shampooing often causes skin irritation.

Hi!
Have you had your vet examine her? Also I would try Frontline next time. What are you feeding your puppy? If you are not feeding her a high quality puppy food (Solid Gold, Merrick, Wellness, Blue Buffalo, etc)I would start. She could be having allergies.

Sounds like allergy.

You need to google something called “Flea Allergy Disease” or FAD. This is an allergy to an enzyme carried on the fleas themselves on not from being bitten. The product you are using prevents flea eggs from developing into mature fleas but it doesn’t kill the matures ones that are there.
Lets say you have fleas in your backyard, in your carpet, etc.—the dog is still exposed to fleas and the enzyme so therefore there is an allergic reaction.
Or a mature flea jumps on your dog….Prevention or Frontline only biologically disrupt the larvae so your dog still gets bit.
Dogs with FAD can scratch so badly that they end up with a staph infection and than you really have a problem. Especially because the staph can transfer to you and many of our present antibiotics…all but one…don’t work on staph any more.
Do some research on FAD, talk to your vet…..maybe slow down on the bathing–it’s just a puppy. You can also look into EFA’s or essential fatty acids to be added to the dog’s diet to help with skin, coat, and skin allergy related problems. Missing Link can be purchased at any pet store and it’s a great supplement for a puppy BUT READ THE DIRECTIONS ON WEIGHT PROPORTION TO THE SUPPLEMENT!

Ask your vet to check for Demodex Mange. This is not contagious but your baby can have an outbreak after stress or such. My male Chi, Bane, has this and we treated with Ivermectin and a great diet.
It is also possible that your baby has allergies. Check when the scratching occurs. My female Chi, Pepper, scratches and bites her paws after coming in from outside. I was off her paws (per Vet orders) and this does not occur anymore.
It may also be a food allergy – best bet is to check with your vet.
As a side note – I was feeding both Eagle Pack for toy breeds. It’s a GREAT diet but much for them – they were licking their privates after urinating which could look like itching sometimes. The diet was causing crystals in their urine. I changed to Royal Canin SO and all is great now.
