Has Anyone Ever Seen an All Black Yorkie?

I got a rescue from an animal shelter and she is all black with a very light tint of brown on her whisker area and a very tiny small patch of white on her chest. They told me she is a Yorkie but all the research I’ve done tells me that Yorkies are black and brown. She is about 9 months old and very tiny only 4 pounds. I would like to know if anyone out there has an all black yorkie. I’m thinking she might have poodle in her also.

It is possible. My sister has a yorkie that is all black. The pup was given to me by a friend of mine for that reason (and because one ear was up and one down). My friend bred Yorkies and this pup was out of an AKC litter so we know for a fact it was purebred. Plus, that was the only breed she had. (This was about 14 years ago and the dog is still around today..still with one ear up and one down!) I don’t recall having seen one since.

She sounds like a Yorkie-poo. Do an image search and see if there is a resemblance.

It might be technically possible, though I've never seen it personally. I have a feeling your dog is a Yorkshire/Podle mix. I tried doing a brief Google search for black Yorkies, and every truly black one that showed up was a Yorkie/Poodle mix.

The American Kennel Club's description of Yorkshire terriers begins with this:

    Colors
Puppies are born black and tan and are normally darker in body color, showing an intermingling of black hair in the tan until they are matured.

None of the description of the breed's color there mentions anything about solid colored Yorkshire terriers. According to them, all Yorkies are black and tan.
