I'm glad that there are a few people left in the world who care about animals the way I do. what are you talking about? putting wheels on one dog is much easier than helping the millions of people who are starving– but devoting efforts to helping both animals and people doesn't mean that one of these groups is going to suffer. there's enough caring human beings to devote time and effort to both. this kind of mutually exclusive mentality is just going to screw us over. why can't you just be happy for the dog?

this is completely illogical. you're assuming that by devoting effort to bettering the lives of animals we are taking away from the aid we can give to human beings– this isn't true, because there is not a finite resource of human care. there are plenty of people helping humans AS WELL AS animals, but if you want to join in the fight for humanity, go for it. it's all up to you.
