Yorkie Rescue

I have the oppurtunity to rescue a shih tzu/yorkie puppy & i was wondering about how yappy & high strung they might be. I have had shih tzus before which are totally laid back. Also , i wonder about thier coat & how to care for it. If you have a baby like this, can you let me know how thier tempermant is. I know all dogs are different. thanks!

It could take more after the yorkie or more after the shih tzu so it is hard to tell. Yorkies are pretty hyper. Yorkies are also pretty good yappers, don't know about shih tzus. With a mix, it is a tossup which traits they will have. I hope you get the pup! Thanks for not going to a breeder who breeds these mixes!

I'm looking for a Shih-tzu puppy to rescue in the month of June and all of the addressees and puppies are in other states! The puppy may be mixed with something, such as a Yorkie, to form a Shorkie. But where is a rescue place to buy a Shih-tzu? PLEASE HELP!

Please adopt from a shelter, please don't buy a Shorkie-they are bred by irresponsible breeder that have poor temperment including aggression, genetic faults and behavioural problems, only way to avoid the aggressive tendancies in this mix is to adopt from a shelter, pound or rescue organisation, they are thoroughly temperment tested.

Hey does anyone have any experience with a puppymill rescue dog, because I just got one from a friends who works at an animal shelter and rescued some yorkie chihuahua mixes and I am fostering one of the puppies. His name is Harley and he is 6 weeks old ( and the mom unfortunately didn't make it).

my question was if anyone has any experience with one and basically I just wanted to know how he/she turned out etc.

What a sweet face little Harley has! I took in a female from a puppy mill that had been closed down. She was three. She'd had litter after litter of pups and been kept in a cage her whole life. She was missing one eye and blind in the other. After a month of hiding under the bed and only coming out to eat, bite someone or pee on something, she started interacting with the other dogs. She's 12 now and the sweetest girl ever. She's a certified therapy dog who goes to nursing homes to cheer up the seniors. I'm not sure about yorkies but those chis are really resilient little dogs. I'm betting Harley will grow up to be very handsome, loved and well adjusted!
