Which are better dogs? companions? easy to train? I am having a hard time choosing which dog I want. I love them both. I’ve heard that Yorkies are problem dogs, even though they are so small and cute. Help me out. Thanks! (Not interested in adopting/rescue).
I have both!! I have a 3 yr old Pomeranian and a 5 month old Yorkie.
The Pom is the friendliest dog I’ve ever met. She’s extremely friendly, playful, love-able, and has a lot of energy. She’s house trained and rarely has accidents in the house. It was easy to teach her tricks. She loves to jump around and play. She sheds (mostly in the summer), but when we get her groomed the shedding is less. You have to brush them, so that their fur doesn’t get matted, but not everyday.
As far as the Yorkie goes, I haven’t had much experience with her yet. So far, she’s great and doing pretty well with house training. She’s also very friendly, playful, love-able, and has a ton of energy. She requires almost daily brushing (her hair gets a lot more matted and knotted than the Pom). And once she gets older, she will probably require more grooming since their hair grows very long. The good thing is that they don’t shed becuase they have hair, not fur.
I’ve heard a lot of good things about both breeds. They both seem to have similar personalities. Poms shed more but Yorkies need more grooming, but they are both extremely adorable. Check out the websites I left you. They have info on both breeds. Good luck!!

Well I was trying to decide on those too but I really find that the pomeranian has a better temperment around people and kids however both are hard to train both make great companions however pomeranians are cheaper than yorkies.

Oh, you should be interested in adopting/rescue, this year over a MILLION’S dogs in will be killed. But anyways, i’d get a yorkie. I have one very great! And easy training.[:

Pomeranian are cute as are yorkies but pomeranians need allot of work on the fur where yorkies follow in but not as heavily as pomeranians. In companionship yorkies will follow you everywhere!!! pomeranians will to but not as much easy to train ahh both can be difficult definently dont adopt or rescue because they might have severe fears and things but i would go with a yorkie!!!

well a pom is super yippy and hardheaded but if you find a really good yorkie- then that is what i would choose. all my freinds have yorkies and most have no problems at all.

If you want the best of both…Get a yorkie pomeranian mix!That’s what i have and she’s easy to train. And she doesn’t shed alot either!

DEFINATELY a pom!
They are very intelligent and, when trained properly, can be very obedient. Though people may say they are, they are not hard to train, although potty training can be a problem, but the same goes with any toy breed… INCLUDING the yorkie.
In my experiences, yorkies are problem dogs, they bark, bite, whine, jump, and do lots of other crazy things. Poms can have issues in the barking and whining areas, but training really helps!
Pomeranians are definately more friendly around other animals and people, including children. A pom makes a great companion too. But remember to choose whatever dog you believe fits your lifestyle!
