hey i’m getting a dog and i’m stuck between Yorkie or Dachshund. Which one would you chose??
thanks!!
which will live longer?
which has more energy and always wants to play?
Which is easier to train?
thankss!
sorry for all the edit
But i am getting one from a rescue home. So yea.. and if you had to chose one which would you chose? i’m having such a difficult time. Which do you think would make a more loving fun energetic pet?
I think you should get a yorkshire terrier because they are loyal, protective and very friendly pets.
they are also hypo allergenic and barely shed!
the bad thing about yorkies is that they bark A LOT.
yorkies are easy to train, and will make wonderful pets.
daschunds are great dogs too, but i prefer yorkies.
BUT whatever dog you get,
DO NOT GET IT FROM A PET STORE.
pet stores get their dogs from puppy mills, which is a terrible animal cruelty organization.
(search on google "puppy mills" if you dont know what it is.)
PLEASE get your dog from your local animal shelter, that would be so kind of you if you did.
50% of dogs from animal shelters are put down because they could not find a home in the required amount of time, you could help reduce that number,
IF YOU STILL CAN NOT GET YOUR PUPPY FROM AN ANIMAL SHELTER,
get your puppy from a breeder,
but make sure it isnt an online-shipping thing, those are scams. you have to look carefully on how you will purchase your pup.
eg. see if they only allow credit cards (they could take your number)
For more infos on internet scams and stuff, look it up on google.
Daschunds live 12-15 years.
they arent that active, they’re more calm and relaxed.
they are very protective dogs, and could make great watch dogs.
Daschunds take a lot of effort to train.
Yorkies live 12-15 years, too.
Yorkies have quite the energy, but arent that active either (just like daschunds, they dont have the energy to go on a long hike or something like that. both could easily play fetch and stuff with you, but they’re small, so larger stuff would be too tough for them)
Yorkies are very easy to train.
Once again, they are both fantastic pets, but please get whichever pup you choose from an animal shelter.
Good Luck!

Any dog is a good pet, if properly raised and socialized. And most of all, NEVER humanized.

both you can find one on http://www.crigslist.com
for free or for like alot money

They’re both sweet breeds. But be warned, Dachshunds have a tendency to have knee and leg problems once they’re about 4 years old.
References :
Neither, but they are not the type of breeds I like, thankfully everyone is different otherwise we would all have the same breed of dog.
References :
they both bark a lot…yorkies have long hair and need to be groomed dachshunds have back problems you should do your home work on both breeds then decide if you want a dog that has those qualities i would honestly go with a yorkie or a doxie mix
References :
Just think about what your willing to put into the dog. Dachshunds are prone to back injuries which can mean very expensive surgery. Yorkies are prone to heart disease, dental disease, among other problems. Just do your research. Also go with a reputable breeder. This means no puppy mills. You should check rescuesa and shelters. Those dogs need loving homes and your less likely to deal with the major health problems.

I have a half yorkie half maltese. My dog is playful like a yorkie , yet gentle and well-mannered like a maltese. Yorkies are soooo cute, but they are a bit high strung and yappy. Dachshunds are great little dogs. My best friend has two little dachschunds, and they are cute, smart, playful yet mellow. They are low maintenance and great with children, because they are a bit more sturdy than the yorkie or maltese. Yorkies are not as easy to potty train as dachshunds are, and they can be stubborn. MY CHOICE IS A DACHSCHUND!!!!!

Lifespan: Yorkshire Terriers have a lifespan of 9-15 years. Dachshunds have a lifespan of 12-16 years.
Energy: Dachshunds tend to have more energy and have a friendly personality. Yorkshire terriers tend to adapt easily to different environments but they need more attention than most dogs.
Training: Dachshunds are bred to be easily trained in order to hunt as Yorkshire terriers were fashionably bred dogs in the Victorian era.
I see Dachshunds as a better pet, especially since they are good with children and have a friendly personality. They are easier to train and tend to have less health problems. It seems Yorkshire Terriers would make a great lapdog.
