A shelter. They often have purebreds, and adoption fees rarely top $250, all of which goes back into the shelter to help other animals.
If you are going to adopt from a good breeder (meaning they do extensive health testing and don’t overbreed) the dog is likely going to be at least that much. All the genetic testing and care that guaranteed that you will have a healthy dog cost a lot!

LOL not…
Look in shelters! Keep calling, or sometimes they can put you on a list and call you if they get one in!

I actually just adopted a little silky terrier from an animal shelter on the weekend and she is just perfect. She is only a year old, a little timid from her last owner, but very sweet and very placid. She cost $250 but she is microchipped, desexed, fully vaccinated, flea treated, wormed etc, and even came with a free bag of food. Many animal shelters have websites where you can view the dogs details and see a picture of it before you enquire about it. As a tip though, you should go and look at the dog you choose asap because where I live all the cute ones would be gone very quickly. There are quite a few small dogs at the shelter also (I thought there would mainly be big dogs ). Good luck.
