What food should I feed my Yorkie to make his coat super shiny?
I have a year old Yorkie. I feed him Natural Balance now and he likes it. Is there a food that caters to the Yorkie coat, making it shinier but that actually contains high quality ingredients as well?
Also, please don't suggest Avoderm as he is allergic to it
My vet told me to give him a raw egg once a week MAX, especially since he has a sensitive tummy. Isn't an egg each day for a 7 lb dog unhealthy?
Hello,
I will tell you the type of food my dog is on! As I get crazy compliments on her shiney, healthy, silky coat. It is called Wellness, it has great ingredients and is good for dogs with sensitive stomachs! I get the kind in the purple bag, I think it's the chicken kind. I tried a few different brands, because my pup (1year 2 months) has a very sensitive stomach.
Good Luck!

We put yeast tablets in our dogs food and they dont even recognize it. Just mix it up in their food and tah dah! Our dogs coats are very shiny and soft now
We put about one or two tablets per day (depending on your feeding schedule)

Their unique set of nutritional requirements have been passed on from generation to generation just like the breed's unique coat, body size and temperament. We have found that we can not change the genetic makeup of the animals we are feeding just by exposing them to a different diet for a small amount of time (1,000 to 2,000 years) any more than we can change any of their other genetically predetermined characteristics by taking them to a different climate. Therefore, I suggest that Yorkshire Terrier owners try to feed their present companion pets with foods that contain what this breed requires. The food should contain: (#1) nutrient sources that are similar to those found in the native environment of the breed's ancestors (sources which are not foreign to the digestive and glandular systems of today's Yorkshire Terrier and which are easy for them to assimilate) and (#2) the proper balance of protein, carbohydrates, fatty acids, vitamins and minerals that match the breed specific nutritional requirements - those which have been passed on by their ancestors.

Grain free foods result in the shinest coats. My dog is on Wellness CORE and his coat is great! The kibble is a bit large though so maybe try Canidae grain free or EVO, which probably has the tiniest small breed kibble I've ever encountered(feed evo in very small amounts as it's protein and fat levels are off the charts)
