I do make it a point to let them know that AKC observes the YT as a TOY Breed. Too many Breeders are saturating the US and other countries with more and more poor genetics in ALL sizes of Yorkshire Terrier. I highly recommend that everyone have their Yorkie tested for Liver Shunt, regardless- as a preventative measure. There is a relatively NEW test for Liver Shunt detection. Please refer to your Veterinarian of choice.

You are 100% right. One place you are wrong though is they are too tiny to be tested. Any reputable Vet would recommend waiting until they were a little older. I have tested all my Yorkies (adults). AKC also did not recognize Poodles or Schnauzers (amongst a few others) with a different size category many years back. I give their sizes a “title” ONLY for the benfit of the viewer(s). About 98% are specific when asking and use these terms.
