How Do You Tape a Yorkies Ears Up for Them to Be ‘up’ Ears?

My Yorkies ears are not standing up and i was told they would later. Well she’s 8wks and it hasn’t happened yet. Someone suggested taping but didn’t know how. Can someone explain?

100% WRONG answers……..sad to say, that’s not a new record here!

It’s too soon to panic but …if you don’t want the dog to look like a neglected-by-it’s-ignorant-owner POS MUTT……get the hair off the ears & WRAP a piece of masking tape around the ear at the base for support & TA-DAH!!!

You could TRY taping them….but I have a feeling the dog would get irritated and scratch them off. :P

That’s terrible. She is definitely still growing, she is still loosing her baby teeth and growing IN baby teeth; a lot of times when they are teething their ears don’t go up.
Wait a month or two and if they are still down, then you can tape the ears, But it won’t happen. They’ll go up.

Maybe because she is only 8 weeks old and she hasn’t begun to mature yet.

I think someone was pulling your leg. Dogs ears only stand up when they are alert and taping them to stay up would be cruel.

aww dont tape them…everybody both humans and animals grow at their own speed and your may be growing slower…I have a westie and hers took 10 weeks….this means that they are not strong enough to hold them up. Besides your talking about like the smallest breed of dogs. Personally I think when the ears are bent down it looks adorable!!!

Well. I don’t know what to do. The most surefire way to get them to stand up is to crop them, but I think it’s mean.. live with them down, they’re cuter that way,

    Are you showing her?
If not, then leave her alone. Binding ears is torture for the dog.

OMG. Where did you buy this pup? Her ears may not stand up until she’s finished teething. Leave them alone – and do some research on the breed.
A well bred Yorkshire Terrier does NOT need ear taping because ear carriage is hereditary and its parents had the correct ears, chances are the pups will too.

She is 8 weeks old. Just be a little patient. They will more than likely stand on their own, some just take a little longer than others. Whats the rush anyway? Just enjoy your puppy for who they are!

A lot of times, it takes a while for the ears to go up. You have to wait until she is done teething and growing from a puppy to sort of a kid. You’ll just have to be patient. Make sure your dog is getting a healthy diet, combined with exercise, so take her on walks each day, but don’t wear her out. Also make sure she is getting clean water and everything and brush her each day. It’s actually proven a dog will grow healthier if you keep them happy. So keep your dog happy and don’t force her to grow up too fast. Nothing is perfect.

My yorkie’s ears didnt stand up until about week 14. Leave your puppy’s ears alone and do some research on the breed. It’s in just about every yorkshire terrier book I’ve ever seen.

But I have heard it’s a good way to determine if the yorkie is a pure bred or not. Some poorly bred yorkies wont have ears that stand up either.

I sure hope you did your research and got your dog from a reputable breeder.
