Yorkshire Terrier Breeders

Silky Terrier, Yorkshire Terrier, Both Influenced by Austrailian Terrier?

Monday, November 3rd, 2008

how do you really tell the diff between the silky's and yorkies? my belief is that in my job as a groomer, that a certain breed comes in as X breed, but may not be that breed ,even if it is papered. So many come from puppy mills etc and even the breeder can't tell you what is up. So what is the deciphering difference between a yorkie and a silky?

Or is the Aussie influenced by the Silky & Yorkie? To my understanding, without nosing around the internet as it is late, the Aussie was the last of the three to get AKC registration, if that means anything. Colors other than the traditional black & tan are also acceptable with Aussies.

I have a couple of Aussie terriers now, and had a Yorkie long ago. There is a major difference, not only in size, but in the bone structure, most noticeably in the jaws as well as chest and front legs.

The last time I actually got up close & personal with an adult Silky was over 20 years ago, when I had the Yorkie. If I recall it was mainly a size difference, the Silky seemed like an oversize Yorkie, I imagine a runt Silky & a Yorkie at the top end of the breed standard would be almost the same, perhaps there are a few differences an experienced breeder would be able to see & feel, that person is not me, as I don't breed.

Where Can I Find a Yorkshire Terrier Breeder Around Nebraska?

Friday, October 31st, 2008

We just moved into a new town home, and we would like to have a cute, cuddly buddy around. We are not willing to pay anymore than $800. I want the breeder to be in Nebraska, or Iowa, so we don’t have to worry about shipping and stuff.

Please don’t look for a breeder. You may get an inferior pup that will turn out to have problems later in its life. There are many dogs out there to adopt. They are rescued and taken care of by foster families and are ready for a good home. Their personalities are developed and they are house trained and have gotten past the chewing and puppy stage in most cases. Try one of these sites

Where Can I Get a Yorkshire Terrier in Victoria- Australia? I Can Not Find a Breeder Anywhere.?

Monday, September 15th, 2008

I have looked, all over the internet and the yellow pages. Is there any yorkie breeders in Victoria? Or even just someone who is selling one? The closer to Melbourne the better. Please someone tell me where to find one, or cant you get them in Australia? They would be the perfect dog for me.

Don’t buy pure-bred dogs (or cats). Adopt a pound puppy or shelter cat. There are too many animals who need homes. By patronizing puppy mills, you’re depriving a deserving dog of a home.
