The best and less expensive breeder or place to get a yorkie? [Yorkshire Terrier]?

I went to one place and it was 2500 so im just wondering if any one knows a good breeder of yorkies that arent AS expensive. Thanks. And by the new york/new jersey/penn. region but if farther away, thats fine. Thank you so much.

This is a list of the breeders in the Yorkie parent club of the AKC. Not a guarentee they are a good breeder, still ask your questions, but if they are a member of this club they are highly more likely to be a better caliber of breeder than the breeders posting on craigs list, etc. Litters will be bred to standard, not 'teacup' variety, will come with a health guarentee, parents will be genetically tested before mating, etc. And the puppies, if you but pet quality, should be substantially less than $2500. A responsible breeder would not charge that much for such a popular breed.

Try Petfinder.com or a yorkie rescue.
Do an online search for a yorkie rescue in your area.
You will get a vetted, neuter or spayed, healthy yorkie and the rescue knows it's personality and what kind of home it needs - doesn't get any better than that.

Never go to a pet store, those dogs come from puppymills, and avoid most breeders, as the majority are just looking to make money

Also, never buy online

ask around if anybody knows anybody with yorkies. i have a 2 year old yorkie, i got him when he was a few months old. he was free 'cause my grandmother's friend worked for a pet store and they were going to have to send the dog back to the breeders 'cause he had a minor problem and couldn't be sold. so we got him for free. he's perfectly healthy now. you just gotta look hard, ask around, and hope for some luck.

A GOOD breeder is probably going to charge at least $1,000 for a pet quality. A reputable breeder puts alot of work and money into creating healthy, quality dogs. Consider than when you look at prices from reputable breeders.

try the yorkie club for a referral

otherwise, a shelter or rescue is the place to look
