What kind of puppy should I get?

Right now I have a 8 month old Yorkshire Terrier or simply put a Yorkie. My bf and I love her to death but sometimes we think instead of always playing with us maybe we should get another puppy. We would love to get another puppy not just for Daisy (our Yorkie) but for us too. But this time we want get a puppy that has been rescued from say a puppy mill or something. We want to get a little dog since Daisy is little she is about 6lbs. We also live in an apartment but our landlord is a dog lover and allows small dogs. So what breed of puppy do you think would be the best?

you could search on www.petfinders.com and find a small breed there. I think you can narrow your search by weight too.

Go to your local animal shelter. That's a good starting point. They might have just the little dog you're looking for.

Shes a Maltese/Yorkie I honestly love this breed they're so cute and they're really fun too.

Perhaps a Maltese. They tend to be quiet, gentle, peaceful dogs. But I agree with the other answer…check your local shelter or humane society. Good luck!

Get a Beagle. They are small and loveable, and they fair well with other dogs

A maltese or a shih tzu would be a good friend for Daisy

don't get a beagle. they don't stop barking. The lady across the street from me had one. She got fined so many times she had to move. Get a pug terrier. they are cute and tiny. doesn't have the smashed face like the pug, and they should get along. they are really lovey.

Most dogs at shelters are mutts but you will get the occasional purebred. The best thing you could do at this point is go down to the shelter and look at the dogs there. This will help you know what mutt, mix or even purebred you are looking for http://selectadog.pedigree.com.au/

Good Luck!!

Be careful, I too have a yorkie, he is 7 years old, when he was 2 we got another dog, my husband wanted a guys dog, that equals BIG, we got a samoyed, he is the biggest baby and very nice dog. But I have to keep a close eye on the 2 dogs, the sami can hurt the yorkie real easily. He has bumped into him and pushed him down the stairs, he has sat on him, and laid on him. When we 1st got the sami the yorkie had an injury to his leg that took a couple of months to heal due to rough play. I would recommend another small dog if you have to get one, but yorkies are pretty devoted, and they don't mind being the only dog in your life, sometimes they get jealous of other dogs. I find with my dog he is at my side always and hates when I pay attention to anyone but him! But you know your dog, if he does not seem to mind having to share your attention it maybe okay. Take him place and see what he thinks as you interact with other animals. My yorkie by the way LOVES our cat!! and the cat loves him!
