Shelters are about $30.

Yorkie or breed-specific rescues range from $100-$300. These orgs are your best bet.

From a breeder, price can vary wildly.

You know if you are not going to show dogs or anything like that go to a small dog rescue and pick out your new buddy there..a proper bred Yorkie with all papers should run about $1200 and up..be careful when buying "cheap" dogs without papers asa they are usually not purebred and try not to buy from pet stores sorry pet store guys but most times the pups come from puppy mills or accidental breeding ..at least with a purebred you know exactly what you are getting and one from a rescue will be tested before it is re homed..Good Luck to you..hope you find what you are looking for

It's highly variable depending on where you get them from and your location.
In my area (TN):
rescues charge about $350 on average.
a good breeder (who does health testing, showing, etc.) will be about $1500-2000.
a shelter will be about $75, but it's really rare to find a yorkie in shelters here without having to fight someone for it.
a breeder in the paper is about $600, but I wouldn't buy from a breeder who is posting in the paper. You may have a dog with chronic health problems and that is unsociable, because most aren't health tested and they're from breeders who generally care mostly about money.
Craigslist rehommers seem to stick to about $200, but they get flagged quickly so you have to take down the email fast.

Hope I helped some.

If your looking for a purebreed your going to be at least $1000.00, unless you know a breeder. There are many rescue sites that you might be able to find one on, but it may not have any proof of being a purebreed.

The rescue sites though are still going to be around $200.00, but thats due to having to pay for vaccines. Also many rescue organizations make you pay to spay/neuter the dog, and thats where the extra cost goes.

They seem to cost more in Canada! At least from good breeders they do. If your lucky $1500.00 for pet quality on up to $ 4800.00 Best Of Luck!
