How to choose a vet for your Yorkshire Terrier is easier than ever. Since the breed is so popular, most vets who care for dogs are aware of how to treat Yorkshire Terrier allergies. You will most likely have more problems with people allergic to Yorkies than getting a Yorkshire Terrier with allergies. The most common are food allergies, flea bite allergies and allergies to cleaning chemicals.

Will my friend have allergies to a Yorkshire Terrier if she has asma?
She's not sure if she will have any allergies to the dog?
P.s she has asma!
Probably not if she's not specifically allergic to dog, a dog that sheds more might trigger an attack, but since Yorkies don't shed much I doubt it

Allergies and asthma are two different things. If she is allergic to dogs (ask her) then it could trigger her asthma. If she is allergic does she know to what? People can be allergic to the hair, the dander or the saliva or a combination of anyone of them.
Ask them, they will know their medical condition best so you don't have to guess.

It really depends on the person! I have asthma and I am allergic to certain breeds of cat and not dogs.
You won't know if she will have allergies with the puppy until she is able to pat and be around him/her.

A Bichon Frise is a hypoallergenic dog. Maybe she should consider that breed. I'm getting my male pup on Thursday

There's no way to know for sure. Since Yorkies are single coated many people with allergies to dogs are ok with them but not everyone is. THere is no such thing as a dog that won't cause allergy problems for all people that suffer from allergies or asthma. The best thing to do, with her doctor's ok, would be to visit someone who has a Yorkie (for short periods of time at first) and see if she has any sort of reaction.

My family has always had dogs- mutts, a german shep, dobe, chihuahua, etc., and I've never had any problems. However my friend has a yorkis that I'm highly allergic to. So all the ppl who say you can't be allergic to yorkies, I'd have to say that they're wrong. Anyone can be allergic to anything and you should test out any breed for an extended period before getting a dog.
Asthma and allergies may be different but they are closely related. That's why a doctor who specializes in allergies usually specialize in asthma. I have both. And my doctor tested me for everything. But it really does depend on the person. So get tested and see what triggers either problem.
P.S. I am very allergic to Yorkie's!!!
