3 Ways to Entertain Your Dog and Have Some Fun

From yorkshire terriers to any breed of puppy or age of dog, dogs love to have fun. Have a bored pet at home that needs some excitement in their life? Well here are three great and easy ways to put a little excitement in your dogs life! These activites are quick and painless. Make your dog or puppies day by simply taking a couple minutes out of your day to do these activities with them.

Here are the activites:

1. Hide and seek

2. Hide the treats

3. Which hand is it?

How to play the games:

Hide and seek

tell your dog to stay put while you go hide. Make sure your dog doesnt see where you hide… some dogs like to cheat, so make sure you have them stay in a seperate room from where you are hiding. Go hide and call your pet. Your pet will come bareling through the house to find you. Keep calling your pet to keep the dogs interest. When they have found you be sure to praise the dog and give them a treat.

Hide the treats

get a handfull of treats, or break apart a treat into smaller pieces. Show the handfull of treats to your dog and tell it to stay in a seperate room from where you will be hiding the treats. If this is your dogs first time playing this, be sure to hide the treats in low areas where they can easily find them. Encourage the dog to find the treats by pointing out a couple of them. Your dog will eventually get the drift and start sniffing them out. Depending on how smart your dog is, after a couple of games you can start hiding the treats in more difficult spots such as on top of chairs or under things. It is always funny to see them using their paws to knock off treats from higher spots or dig them out from under things.

Which hand is it?

Sit in front of your dog. Show them a handfull of treats and put the treats behind you. Put a treat in one of your hands and make fists. Put your fists out in front of you and have your dog either paw or use their nose to guess which hand has the treat. If they dont get it, open the other one and show them that it was in that hand. Put your hands back behind your back and bring them back out. Your dog should go for the hand that it previosly saw or found the treat in. Some dogs may understand the game and some might not, either way they still enjoy sniffing them out or pawing at your hand to guess. It is always fun to see them guess.

Well there you have it, a couple of games to spice up your dogs life. Use with precaution because they might prove to be so fun for you to do that you end up taking out a couple of hours out of your day instead of minutes. A happy dog is an entertained one.

    What are some creative ways to entertain an almost 3 yr old on a plane?
    Me and my almost 3 yr old daughter are going on a 5 hour flight. If you have flown with a 2-3 yr old, do you have any creative ways to entertain them. Im already bringing some books, coloring/activity books, and some of her favorite toys to play with. Our DVD player just broke and we cant afford another one, so that is not an option.

    Get yourself to the dollar store – without her, if possible, so she will have some surprises. I try to go once before the trip, and then again at a dollar store at the destination before the trip home. The stuff is cheap enough that you won't mind tossing it at either end of the trip. Good luck! :)

    Take a portable DVD player and show him some children's movies. You can also just take your child's favorite game and enhance it or make it more fun for him/her. I suggest that you can take a coloring book and markers or crayons and color with him/her.

    All the things you have suggested are great ideas, you could also take some photo albums to flick through, it would be fun to look at for them and remember past experiences. At work, we have photo albums of the past years and it occupies the children for agess!

    On road trips I pack my kids a surprise bag. I just get a bunch of small cheap things like little cars, coloring and activity books, anything she might like. They don't know what is in the bag, so its great when you take something out to give to them. I let them play with the first toy until they seem to be getting bored then I pull out another surprise!

    The stuff you're bringing is great. I would suggest that story books to read to her are especially good. Children love to be read to by the mother. (It makes them crave reading when they get older, because they associate it with mother-love.)

    We flew a lot when I was a little kid; I'm in college now but I've been on planes since I was 8 months old. Get some new fun toys for them to play with, a new book, and some cards. That would keep me entertained on an 8 hour flight. Bring some snacks too because plane food sucks honestly. Also bring lots of wipes to clean up messes. If you are prepared, it will go over well.

    Some airlines have portable DVD players for rent for the flight.

    Pack a little backpack for him to carry with items that will entertain him. Besides what you have mentioned, I have used
    * modeling clay
    * snacks (Animal Crackers are good, b/c children will play with them and eat them)
    * small puzzle (they come in small boxes at the dollar store or in the dollar isle at K-Mart)
    * I Spy books
    * book on tape with cassette and headset
    * barrel of monkeys
    * Duplo
    * Rescue Hero

    When the child knows there are lots of items to play with in the bag, it can be overwhelming and there will be no sustained play with one item, b/c he will be too concerned with getting everything out. Make a plan ahead of time for this. Even though children don't have a concept of time, you can say, "We'll get one item out every 20 minutes." Once the child has gone through all the items, you can start over.

    Do you have an ipod? I loaded mine up with my sons favorite songs. Also bring along snacks, juice box, favorite blanket, and suckers ( for the ear popping ). Also go to the dollar store and get those magnetic games, along with some stickers ( decorate her coloring ). Bring different coloring items other than just crayons. Markers are a treat for my son, and he loves the color wonder sets. Expensive for something that he destroys quickly but keeps him quiet. Also try to angle for her to have a window seat, my son loves looking at the ground when we turn/takeoff/land. Let her stand up when the seatbelt sign goes off, take her to the potty ( even if shes not trained just to stretch her legs ) do that about once an hour. Also bring a blanket and make a " mini fort " by covering up the set top in front of her and on the back of her headrest, maybe yours ( annoying to your seatmate, but if they complain point out crying is worse ). If the flight is early morning wake her up early ( I mean early early ) so that naptime is around takeoff/mid flight. She will be cranky but once up in the air it should soothe her to sleep. Or if its a late flight make sure she doesn't have any caffiene or candy ( get sugar free suckers for the ear popping ). Oh, if you have a leap pad bring that along ( try craigslist for a cheap one ). If you have a laptop bring a dvd and use that as a dvd player. I did ( make sure you have ear phones ). Hope that helps!
