Do Yorkshire Terriers Do Well Sleeping Next to Their Owners?

I am considering a Yorkie and was wondering if they do well in beds (I am NOT a tosser or a turner, I lay in one spot aaaall night xD) And at what age could I begin this? I don't want them to pee in my room! XD

The dog is going to sleep where the dog wants to sleep. There isn't any way to force your dog to sleep next to you, so I wouldn't focus on this too much.

If you've just started looking at yorkies, this is the least of your concerns.

Please do a lot of research before considering this breed. And check out www.petfinder.com for local homeless yorkies.

I wouldn't let a puppy have free roam. Sleeping loose in the bedroom is a privalage. My general rule is a dog has to be at least 2 years old before they get bedroom privalages.

I would research a lot on the breed. Yorkies can be spunky little dogs and are not best for everyone. I would go for a rescue dog from a breed rescue, shelter or http://www.petfinder.com. You might consider a dog around a year old who is already potty trained so that you won't have to deal with that or a teething puppy.

Depends on the dog, i was dog sitting 3 dogs the other day and the labrador slept with me, and didnt even give me chance to toss and turn when i wanted too, it depends how its brought up, every dog needs a helping hand being told where to pee and poop. dont take time for them to learn if they are young, so as a pup if they sleep with u, the chances are theyll never stop as they get older!!

They usually do. My friend has one and he's great. You just have to be carefull with them, even if your a calm sleeper, when you get up for whatever reason, they are so small and tuck themselves into darker, smaller places and it can be hard to see them.

My friend has almost sat on her Yorkie several times.
Start this when they are pottie trained.

any time you let a dog sleep with you, you are making it an equal in the "pack". that is not a wise thing to do – YOU have to be the leader of the pack – no equals allowed or there will be behavior problems. once the dog is well housebroken, letting it sleep on its own bed in your bedroom is ok, but I had to re-train my dog because I didn't know not to let her sleep in my bed
