Also, please do not get a yorkie that is advertised as 'tiny teacup' – they aren't breeds. I have no problems with mixed breed dogs (my own dog was a springer X) but 'teacup' dogs are bred using the smallest and usually unhealthy dogs.

yorkshire terriers are a long haired breed, and cost is determined by the seller, from a breeder you will pay around 200 to 500 for one, from a pet shop you will pay from 500 to 1500 depending upon the store. the quality is also a factor in cost for show dogs the higher end, for pets the lower. if your looking for a short haired dog you should consider beagles, minature pinschers, bassets. to name a few. the yorkshire requires grooming to keep its hair short.

Yorkies don't have short hair when they grow up. they require reg. brushing to keep the hair from matting or you could take the dog to the groomer every 6 wks. to be clipped and keep it short that way.
