How Often Do Yorkshire Terriers Need to Get Clipped at the Dog Groomers?

hello, i alread have a lhasa apso..and were think of getting a yorkshire terrier. So i’m just wondering how often do yorkshire terriers generally need a hair cut? we understand that they need to be brushed alot, but what about getting clipped? thanks x

Yorkies are beautiful dogs. I have one and he’s so smart, beautiful and loving. As for how how often you have to get a Yorkie groomed, a lot depends on how long you want to keep their hair. If you want a shorter cut such as a puppy cut or teddy bear cut, then you would need to get their hair cut about every 4-6 weeks. My dog has the puppy cut. The shorter hair cuts will help keep the hair from getting as many knots or tangles. Also, the shorter hair cuts help keep your dog cooler, especially during the Summer.
So you should get a Yorkie groomed about every 4-6 weeks. Also, it’s important to brush their hair once a day. This also helps keep knots and tangles out of their hair. You can also bath your dog about every 1-2 weeks, this helps keep their hair clean and healthy.
Yorkies are great dogs. You will enjoy having one in your family.
Best of luck. Hope I helped.

Well, Yorkies are very high maintenance dogs who need regular haircuts. You will need to get them clipped at least once a month to keep it in tip top condition. I recommend you get a short puppy cut or teddy bear cut. These make it easier to groom.

4-6 weeks Id reccomend and obvious brushing with a SLICKER brush in between and WORK WORK WORK with their feet constantly play with their feet an legs will make it SOOO much easier on the groomer as yorkies hate their feet/legs messed with- play with them as pups and theyll do good =)

My dog is a poodle and he gets groomed every six weeks. So he gets his hair cut and his nails trimmed every six weeks. We don’t have to brush him in between, and don’t usually have to clip his toenails in between groomings.
