What do you know about yorkshire terriers?
I'm thinking of getting a yorkshire soon, and I want what they're are like. I work a 9-5 job, so I thought something so small might travel well with me. What information can you give me about them? Are they easy to train? How are they around children? Do they require a lot of special care?
Hello
A Yorkshire Terrier is just fine for a family but do not get the extremely small ones they have so many health problems. You do not say how old your children are but as long as they are older than 5 years both child and new pet will get along with each other.

I know they are small and also referred to as 'barking rats.'

Many of this breed are gentle, timid little things. But there is another side also. The barkers, yippers and nippers. They do not like to be left alone for long periods of time. They are generally so little I wouldn't think they would be good around very young kids. Look up the breed on the net and find out. They do need combing and haircuts.

I would suggest to look at a Silky terrier
They are 8 to 12 pounds
They are bigger, and not as many health problems
My dog was not Barker
She was great
She bark not yip
Good luck
You can get one big cage, and get two for company
Look for older ones

Firstly, make sure you purchase from a breeder.Do not!! get one from a pet store.Realize they have grooming issues. If you get one from a breeder they will match the puppy to your personality and needs. If it will be crated all day remember they have small bladders so cannot hold urine. You may have to hire a pet sitter or use wee wee pads.Good Luck

no little dog likes children they are afraid of them hurting them, and they are snappy all small dogs are.but if you like small dogs they will never leave your side and yes they are smart and easy to take care of.

Yorkshires are active in the day but if you wake them during the night, you won't get to play with them in the daytime because they will be asleep. They are also really protective, too!
